Northreach Outdoors · Brand Identity
A navigation-led outdoor brand inspired by the North Star — guiding hikers when they are lost, and turning uncertainty into direction, clarity, and trust in the outdoors.
When you lose the trail, look up.
Northreach Outdoors is a concept outdoor navigation brand inspired by the North Star — designed to guide hikers when they feel lost in unfamiliar terrain. The brand transforms navigation into an emotional experience of reassurance, clarity, and direction.
As Brand Designer and UI Designer, I built Northreach from the ground up — from naming and identity to visual systems and product storytelling — shaping it as a symbolic yet practical outdoor guidance system.
Designing direction in moments of uncertainty.
The challenge was to design a brand that communicates safety, clarity, and emotional reassurance in high-stress outdoor situations where users may feel lost or disoriented.
Symbol first. System second. Experience third.
Defined the core idea around the North Star as a universal guide. Built narrative: “Even when lost, there is always direction above you.”
Designed identity around celestial navigation — star geometry, compass symmetry, and glowing directional cues for low-light environments.
Built modular navigation system combining map signals, compass direction, and “North Star lock” guidance mode for hikers.
Extended identity into outdoor gear, signage, and mobile guidance interface with consistent luminous trail language.
